Preview text is the inbox snippet shown alongside the subject line. Learn how it’s generated and how to control it for better opens.
Email preview text is the snippet displayed in inbox listings beneath or beside the subject line. Depending on the client, it may pull from your configured preheader or from the first visible text in the email body.
Preview text can increase opens by making the email feel clearer and more relevant. When it’s blank or accidental, inboxes may show navigation text or “view online,” which wastes prime attention.
To control preview text, set a preheader intentionally and ensure the first line of your email body supports the message. Test across Gmail, Outlook, and mobile apps because preview behavior differs.
