Velocity Limits are safeguards that cap how quickly emails are sent from a mailbox, domain, or IP. Many deliverability issues are caused by spikes: sending too many emails too fast can trigger throttles, spam filters, or temporary blocks. Good velocity limiting spreads volume over time, adjusts per provider (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo), and reacts to SMTP deferrals. For an automation platform, velocity limits are a core reliability layer.
